Andreas Nygaard wins Ylläs-Levi

At the end of the VISMA Ski Classics Series 2019, the race over 70 kilometres from Ylläs to Levi in Finland was once again exciting. In the end Andreas Nygaard (Team Ragde Eiendom, Fischer skis, bindings and boots) was unbeatable and won the overall ranking of the season. Britta Johansson Norgren (Lager 157 Ski Team, Fischer skis, bindings and boots) was the overall winner already before the start and finished third today.

In the men's race it was first Morten Eide Pedersen (Team BN Bank, Fischer skis, bindings and boots), who pulled out together with Chris Jespersen (Team Koteng, Fischer skis, bindings and boots) and Stian Hoelgaard (Team Koteng) and later skied alone at the top. In the further course of the race the Norwegian was caught up again and everyone expected a sprint arrival. Twelve kilometres before the finish, however, sprint specialist Andreas Nygaard surprised with an unusually early attack and prevailed on his own. He reached the finish line 34 seconds ahead of the others and won the overall victory in the VISMA Ski Classics series for the first time. "Finally a solo victory," cheered Andreas Nygaard at the finish "This is the best possible way to end the season". Øystein Pettersen (Team BN Bank Fischer skis and bindings) took second place in the sprint ahead of Øyvind Moen Fjeld (Team Ragde Eiendom, Fischer skis and bindings), who was on the podium at the VISMA Ski Classics for the first time. In the overall standings, Petter Eliassen (Team BN Bank) finished the season in second place, followed by Tord Asle Gjerdalen (Team Ragde Eiendom), Tore Bjørseth Berdal (Team Koteng), Morten Eide Pedersen (Team BN Bank, all Fischer skis, bindings and boots) and Øyvind Moen Fjeld.

Britta Johansson Norgren finished third in the women's sprint ahead of Katerina Smutna (ED System Bauer Team, Fischer skis and bindings) and Anne Kyllönen (Team Mäenpää, Fischer skis, bindings and boots). The Swedish long-distance specialist thus won the overall VISMA Ski Classics ranking for the fourth time in a row. Katerina Smutna took third place and Kari Vikhagen Gjeitnes (Team Ragde Eiendom, Fischer Ski, bindings and boots) finished the season in fifth place.
