Wonderful WCH: five medals and what luck's got to do with it
There is often a fine line between joy and despair at World Championships. But major events such as Schladming are undoubtedly preceded by a huge amount of effort and inspiration. Hard work which paid off for Fischer, as the following results show:
Manfred Mölgg in WSC mood: a bronze medal to go, please!
Manfred Mölgg has made it: the leap onto the podium. Third place in the Giant Slalom at the World Championships in Schladming (AUT) earned the Italian what is now his third medal in total at World Championships. "Incredible, it is simply incredible," said Mölgg, almost lost for words in the first few moments after his success.
Half-time for Fischer at WSC: 4:0
Four WSC medals – two bronzes, one silver and one gold. This is the story so far for Fischer as the Alpine World Ski Championships enter the hottest phase. Homework has been done and medals have already been won before the most important disciplines for Fischer get underway.
Hosp, Schörghofer, Dürr and Hronek pick up medals in team event
The first gold

Austria wins gold in the team event! And the two Fischer athletes Nicole Hosp and Philipp Schörghofer were part of it. They both made a major contribution to the huge success, winning the first gold medal for their equipment sponsor at the same time. "What an event, simply fantastic! We could ski races like this more often," said a euphoric World Champion Schörghofer in the finish area.
At last: Kostelić wins the medal he has longed for in Super Combined
"I'm really pleased about this silver medal!" This was how a delighted Ivica Kostelić reacted to second place in the WSC Super Combined in Schladming (AUT). Despite being so happy the Croatian was still critical of his performance: "I earned this medal in the Downhill, not in the Slalom. A Super Combined is never over until you've put in a good performance in both disciplines."
Niki Hosp medals: WSC bronze in Super Combined
Overjoyed and visibly moved, Nicole Hosp (AUT) truly savoured the first minutes of her success today. With bronze in the Super Combined event at the WSC in Schladming she won the first medal not only for the Fischer team but also for Austria. "It's an amazing feeling! I'm simply so happy and so satisfied," were her first words after the impressive achievement.
