"Usually Alpe d’Huez is not my favourite place. But it will now always be the place where I got my first podium!" More than happy, Andrea Limbacher was smiling about her triumph in yesterday's Skicross World Cup. It took her two years to finally break the hex. The Austrian was able to demonstrate her talent at the race in France. Happily she congratulated brand colleague Conradign Netzer (SUI) who finished the race fifth.
Mistake motivated her to the top three

After her error in the qualification run the 22-year-old just made it to the main run. And this was what prompted her to give everything. "I was so motivated! My starting worked very well and the skis were running brilliantly." After a disappointing seventh place in the race on home ground in St. Johann (AUT) her third place means Limbacher's first and long desired podium: "It took a long time. I never raced badly, but I missed the last pinch for the big success. Although skicross beauty Limbacher sees herself as a specialist for technical runs she made it to the podium first on a gliding course. "Alpe d’Huez is a very fast course. But this time they built interesting elements. So I was able to show my best skiing!"

Celebration has to be rescheduled

There was no time for a big celebration for Andrea Limbacher due to the tight racing calendar. Today she is on the way to Les Contamines (FRA) again and afterwards the team is going to travel home. "Then I might clink glasses of champagne." And who knows, maybe she has further top results to celebrate.
