Racing: Triple victory on Fischer skis and boots in Nordic Combined
Anssi Koivuranta (FIN, Fischer skis and boots), Björn Kircheisen (GER, Fischer skis and boots) and Jason Lamy Chappuis (FRA, Fischer skis and boots) sensationally claimed a triple victory with the Fischer package in Trondheim (NOR).
Koivuranta was already in the lead after the ski jumping. Yesterdays third-placed Fin controlled the race from the front and went for an invulnerable victory. The overjoyed winner said: "I enjoyed my very strong performance on the hill and it was nice to get the first place. But during the cross country race it was much more difficult to ski alone and not in a group. My good ski, however, gave me the possibility to gain the victory."
Björn Kircheisen started into the skiing part in third position after the ski jumping. Even the 25-year old German was not able to catch the winner - he was nevertheless happy about his first podium placement this season: "I had very good skis and gave it all I had. During the race, I had some moments in which I believed in a possible victory. Later on, I just wanted to save my second spot!”
Third place was taken by Jason Lamy Chappuis who completed the Fischer trio on the podium. The strong skier from France improved from ninth place after the jumping to third place. The third-placed Frenchman summarized as follows: "I’m very happy that I was able to confirm yesterday’s result. I know now that it wasn’t just a lucky day but that I’m in really good condition. I’m looking forward to the next competitions, and I will compete with a lot of self confidence after these days in Trondheim!”
Jan Schmid (NOR, Fischer skis and boots) crossed the finishline in eighth and thus made the top ten as well.
