Tathiana Garbin stopped in the final
Garbin, the No.1 seed at the Tier III event and a veteran Tour player who has had her best career results over the last 12 months, reached the final of the tournament in Bogota, Colombia. Without loosing a set the 29 year old Italian reached the semifinals where she came over Spain Dominguez with an impressive 6:3, 6:1 win.
The final was a pure Italian set up with Garbin facing Roberta Vinci. After winning the first set 7:6 Garbin lost the second one 6:4 to Vinci. In the decisive third set Garbin had to give up with a 3:0 lead due to stomach problems.
The points for the final in Bogota put Garbin to a career high ranking of 27 in the world.
