KLEMETSEN/GRÅBAK WIN NORDIC COMBINED TEAM SPRINT
Håvard Klemetsen (NOR, Fischer) and Jørgen Gråbak (NOR, Fischer) are the winners af nordic combined team sprint in Lahti. Team Norway edged out team Germany composed of Eric Frenzel (GER, Fischer skis and boots) and Johannes Rydzek (GER, Fischer skis and boots) in the final sprint.
Norway too strong for Frenzel/Rydzek
Norwegians Håvard Klemetsen and Jørgen Gråbak showed excellent performances in team sprint with alltogether ten rotations and succeeded ahead of Germany and France. The Scandinavians started eight seconds behind into the cross-country race and first they lost a few seconds against the German duo. But then especially Klemetsen increased his pace and he closed the gap to Eric Frenzel who is a bit out-of-form after his sickness in Sochi. Jørgen Gråbak pushed his luck on the final sprint and edged out Johannes Rydzek who wasn't able to overtake on this narrow course. During the whole race the Frenchmen Braud/Lacroix fighted with the Germans Kircheisen/Edelmann for third spot but just before the last exchange team Italy consisting of Armin Bauer (ITA, Fischer skis, boots and poles) and Alessandro Pittin (ITA, Fischer skis and boots) closed the gap. In the final sprint Francois Braud (FRA, Fischer skis and boots) and Sebastien Lacroix (FRA) secured third spot followed by Björn Kircheisen (GER, Fischer skis and boots) and Tino Edelmann (GER). Team Italy came in fifth.
