Marit Bjørgen (NOR, Fischer skis and boots) celebrated victory in 3k free Tour de Ski-prologue in Oberhof. In men's 4.5k race Alex Harvey (CAN, Fischer) surprisingly succeeded ahead of Devon Kershaw (CAN, Fischer).
Victorious favourite
Today's favourite for the first stage win at this season's Tour de Ski succeeded: Marit Bjørgen undercut her competitor's split times and was 1.9 seconds ahead of her compatriot Astrid Uhrenholdt Jacobsen (NOR). The surprisingly strong Pole Sylwia Jaskowiec (POL) stepped into the breach for her team mate Justyna Kowalczyk (POL, Fischer skis and boots) who refused to start after the change of the competition program in Oberhof. Denise Herrmann (GER, Fischer) finished in good fourth spot, Anne Kyllönen (FIN, Fischer skis and boots) came in sixth followed by the Slovenian Alenka Cebasek (SLO, Fischer). Kerttu Niskanen (FIN, Fischer skis and boots) was ranked tenth.

Canadians back on the top of the world
To be sure none had them on his short list: After the whole team Canada delivered worse efforts for a long time they came back to the top in a double act in today's prologue. Alex Harvey was clearly the fastest athlete on slushy track in 4.5 kilometre prologue although he touched the track barriers in his first rotation and damaged his ski, the behind him skiing Tobias Angerer (GER, Fischer skis and boots) told after the race. Harvey was after three skied rotations in foggy Oberhof 4.1 seconds faster than his compatriot Devon Kershaw - both were a class of their own today. Behind the two North Americans the race was quite close: Martin Johnsrud Sundby (NOR, Fischer skis and boots) finished sixth followed by Swede Jens Eriksson (SWE, Fischer). Finn Hågen Krogh (NOR, Fischer) was ranked ninth ahead of Aivar Rehemaa (EST, Fischer).
