Johannes Thingnes Bø (NOR, Fischer) captured his first ever World Cup victory at biathlon World Cup in Le Grand Bornand. Before that Kaisa Mäkäräinen (FIN, Fischer skis and boots) could be satisfy with her first season's top reult.

Finally her shooting works
Finn Kaisa Mäkäräinen struggled with her shooting during the first weeks of the new season so good results weren't possible. In sprint race in France she missed just one target and finished second which means her first top ten finish this winter. Valj Semerenko came in third followed by World Cup leader Gabriela Soukalova (CZE, Fischer skis and boots), both with one penalty either. Olga Vilukhina (RUS, Fischer) could be happy about her first top ten finish as well after health problems and was ranked fifth ahead of the tied Germans Franziska Preuß (GER, Fischer skis and boots) and Franziska Hildebrand (GER). Olena Pidhrushna (UKR, Fischer skis and boots) finished eigth followed by Krystyna Palka (POL, Fischer skis and boots) and Laura Dahlmeier (GER, Fischer skis and boots).

Bø clearly superior
In a apart from that really tight race Johannes Thingnes Bø won very clearly his first World Cup race. The 20 years of age litte brother of Tarjei (NOR, Fischer) who has a rest this weekendhit all ten targets and was also the fastest athlete on track. After crossing the line 32.9 seconds separated him from Ondrej Moravec (CZE, Fischer) without a miss either. Dmitry Malyshko (RUS, Fischer) finished fourh after hitting all targets. Daniel Mesotitsch (AUT, Fischer skis and boots) came in sixth, eighth went to Fredrik Lindström (SWE, Fischer skis and boots). Anton Shipulin (RUS, Fischer skis and boots) finished tenth.
