Justyna Kowalczyk (POL, Fischer skis and boots) celebrated a victory in 10k classic race in Lillehammer. Second went to Charlotte Kalla (SWE, Fischer) ahead of Marit Bjørgen (NOR, Fischer skis and boots) and Therese Johaug (NOR, Fischer skis and boots). Alexey Poltoranin (KAZ, Fischer skis and boots) was just beaten by Pål Golberg (NOR) in 15k classic race.
First Kowalczyk triumph at Norwegian terrain
Finally Justyna Kowalczyk did it: The Pole reached her first World Cup win in her successful carreer at Norwegian terrain - and her biggest rival wasn't a Norwegian girl! Justyna Kowalczyk made plain to her opponents just from the start that they have to beat her to win today. The Pole set the best split times at the challenging tracks in Lillehammer and her a few minutes later starting opponents found a hard nut to crack. "Soon I noticed that I was incredible fast in skiing today and I felt very good. Now I go for a training camp and don't compete in tomorrow's relay", Kowalczyk stated. Her biggest rival clearly ahead of the Norwegians surprisingly was the Swede Charlotte Kalla - even in her unloved classical style. The Swede was just behind the Pole almost during the whole race, just during the last kilometres her disadvantage increased up to twelve seconds. Marit Bjørgen came in third, 25 seconds back, followed by Therese Johaug, 39 seconds back. Fifth-placed Yulia Tchekaleva (RUS, Fischer) was more than one minute slowed than Kowalczyk. Sadie Bjornsen (USA, Fischer) corfirmed her strong shape of Kuusamo and finished seventh ahead of Kerttu Niskanen (FIN, Fischer skis and boots).

Poltoranin clearly beaten
Alexey Poltoranin seemed to be the safe winner for a long time. The Kazakh showed a great final part of the race and regained ten seconds against long-time leader Didrik Tønseth (NOR) after the last split time. After crossing the line he was 14.4 seconds behind surprise winner Pål Golberg. Marcus Hellner (SWE, Fischer) showed a good shape in classical style and finished fourth just ahead of his compatriot Johan Olsson (SWE, Fischer). Martin Johnsrud Sundby (NOR, Fischer skis and boots) came in seventh. Petter Northug (NOR, Fischer) was ranked ninth ahead of Daniel Richardsson (SWE, Fischer skis and boots), 40 seconds back.
