Eric Frenzel (GER, Fischer skis and boots) was able to continue his triumphal procession in the first individual event at Nordic Combined World Cup in Kuusamo. The German won ahead of Jørgen Gråbak and Magnus Krog (both NOR, Fischer).

The Overall winner 2012/2013 is the best athlete in Nordic Combined at the beginning of season 2013/2014: Eric Frenzel started in fourth position into his cross-country race, 1:12 minutes behind slow skier Evgeniy Klimov (RUS) who was already caught by the group after five kilometres. During the next 2.5 kilometres Frenzel extended his lead up to 20 seconds and he controlled his lead during his last lap. The Norwegians Jørgen Gråbak and Magnus Krog who improved from spot 22 and twelve made a podium. With Mikko Kokslien (NOR, Fischer skis and boots) and Håvard Klemetsen (NOR, Fischer) two more Norwegians finished fourth and sixth ahead of Akito Watabe (JPN, Fischer skis and boots) and Johannes Rydzek (GER, Fischer skis and boots). Hideaki Nagai (JPN, Fischer skis and boots) and Marjan Jelenko (SLO, Fischer) came in ninth and tenth.
