SLOVENIANS START WITH A WORLD CUP VICTORY INTO THE WINTER
The Slovenian skijumper Jurij Tepes (SLO, Fischer), Robert Kranjec (SLO, Fischer), Jaka Hvala (SLO) and Peter Prevc (SLO) secured victory in team competition in Klingenthal in the first World Cup event in this Olympic season after only one round followed by Germany and Japan.
Slovenians twelve points ahead
Especially due to long jumps of Robert Kranjec and Jaka Hvala the Slovenians were able to leave all their opponent behind. The wind conditions became more and more difficult during the competition and therefor the event had to be cancelled after just four athletes in the final round. Thereby the local heroes from Germany consisting of Andreas Wank (GER), Karl Geiger (GER, Fischer), Andreas Wellinger (GER) and Severin Freund (GER, Fischer) who had a considerable lead after two jumpers weren't able to counterattack. Japanese guys Daiki Ito, Reruhi Shimizu, Noriaki Kasai and Taku Takeuchi (all JPN, Fischer) could be glad with their podium finish just five points behind Germany. The Polish quartet Piotr Zyla (POL, Fischer), Krzysztof Biegun (POL, Fischer), Dawid Kubacki (POL) and Kamil Stoch (POL, Fischer) had to be content with their fourth spot.
