Signed, sealed and delivered: Therese Johaug (NOR) has been successful with Fischer skis throughout her entire cross country skiing career and will now be counting on boots from the Nordic number one as well. The second-placed racer in last year's World Cup season is all set to compete for medals and World Cup points with the Fischer ski and boot package.
The 25-year-old Norwegian tested the ski and boot system once again thoroughly on the trails in Val Senales (ITA) just before the winter season gets underway. For the two-times World Champion of Val di Fiemme (ITA) this not only means placing trust in a different boot, but also a change to the NNN (New Nordic Norm) binding system.
Such a big decision does not come easy – especially with an Olympic season just around the corner – but the Carbonlite WS Skating
models were convincing for the new member of the Fischer boot team: "I have a really good feeling with these boots on the skis," says Therese Johaug, "You're much more stable and relaxed on the skis with the new binding system. I prefer to use this energy to make it to the finish line faster."
Her equipment sponsor is also delighted with the choice, as Gerhard Urain, Nordic Racing Director at Fischer, explains: "Seeing as Therese Johaug has been so successful with our skis throughout her entire career we are really pleased that she has now joined our boot team as well. This shows that the work we put in to boot development is worthwhile."
Thomas Drindl, Nordic Division Manager at Fischer, adds: "In recent years we have continued to increase our market share with cross country boots in both the retail trade and in racing. This signing shows that we have worked well. We are optimistic about the future and wish Therese and the rest of the Fischer team all the best for the upcoming Olympic season."
