AUSTRIA'S SKIJUMPERS A CLASS OF IT'S OWN
The Austrians Stefan Kraft (AUT, Fischer), Andreas Kofler (AUT, Fischer), Thomas Diethart (AUT) and Gregor Schlierenzauer (AUT, Fischer) dominated the last season's team event at World Cup final in Planica (SLO). Second went to Poland followed by Norway.
Kraft and Kofler set the base
Especially due to strong performances of the first two athletes Stefan Kraft and Andi Kofler and the help of wind conditions as well as the other teams today's team success went to Austria without many problems. With a 38 points disadvantage team Poland secured second spot represented by Maciej Kot (POL, Fischer), Piotr Zyla (POL, Fischer), Klemens Muranka (POL, Fischer) and Kamil Stoch (POL, Fischer). As yesterday in individual event Norway's anchorman Anders Bardal (NOR, Fischer) along with his compatriots Andreas Stjernen (NOR, Fischer), Tom Hilde (NOR, Fischer) and Anders Fannemel (NOR) was beaten again with 0.3 points. German quartet composed of Andreas Wank (GER), Marinus Kraus (GER, Fischer), Richard Freitag (GER, Fischer) and Severin Freund (GER, Fischer) missed the odium by six points.
Yuki Ito makes a podium in last season's skijump
Yuki Ito (JPN, Fischer) again was the best Fischer athlete in today's last event in women's skijump with the best 29 athletes of the year. The Japanese wasn't able to jump as good as her outstanding team mate Sara Takanashi (JPN) who succeeded with a 27 points lead but celebrated her second spot. With this result she was able to capture the third spot in overall World Cup ranking behind Olympic Champion Carina Vogt (GER, Fischer) who missed today's event again due to knee problems and is will undergo a surgery on Monday. Today's tenth-placed Irina Avvakumova (RUS, Fischer) dropped back to overall fourth spot. In the last skijumping competition of this season Jessica Jerome (USA, Fischer) finished fifth, Maja Vtic (SLO, Fischer) and Ulrike Grässler (GER, Fischer) tied for sixth place. Ahead of Avvakumova Maren Lundby (NOR, Fischer) was ranked ninth.
