Martin Fourcade (FRA) celebrated another Olympic victory after his success in pursuit and won also in individual competition in Sochi. Silver went to Erik Lesser (GER), Bronce to Evgeniy Garanichev (RUS) in front of his home crowd.
With one penalty to success
Despite one penalty Martin Fourcade stormed to his second Olympic title in Sochi. After the last standing stage the Frenchman was still behind clear shooting Erik Lesser but on his final lap Fourcade came out on top. After crossing the line gold and silver seperated just twelve seconds. Bronce went to Russia's Evgeniy Garanichev who made himself the best present for his today's 26th birthday. Simon Eder (AUT) missed a medal by 3.3 seconds and sent his compatriot Dominik Landertinger (AUT) to fifth spot. Sixth cam to pursuit bronce winner Jean Guillaume Beatrix (FRA) followed by disappointed Emil Hegle Svendsen (NOR) and Lowell Bailey (USA). Serhiy Semenov (UKR) and Daniel Böhm (GER) completed the best ten athletes.
