Petr Novak (CZE, Fischer skis, boots and poles) and Riitta-Liisa Roponen (FIN, Fischer skis and boots) claimed victory at the 40th Dolomitenlauf. Altogether five out of six athletes on the podium succeed with Fischer.
Snowfall and temperatures below 0 degrees made the race, which was held in Obertilliach, not easy. But Petr Novak took it all and thus was able to celebrate his first ever FIS Marathon Cup victory with and advantage of 1:04 minutes. „It was a very tough and hard race today but I am really really satisfied and happy. I made the right choice when choosing my skis – they worked perfectly. It's amazing!“ said the overwehlemed happy. In a thrilling finish Martin Bajcicak (CZE, Fischer) gained third place.
On the women’s side Riitta-Liisa Roponen had her nose in front and took the victory ahead of her brand mates Julia Tikhonova (RUS, Fischer), Olga Rotcheva (RUS, Fischer), Antonella Confortola (ITA, Fischer) and Larisa Shaidurova (RUS, Fischer). Especially Roponen’s preparation for the race was very outstanding. The Finn explains: „Yesterday I was still racing in the 10km classic Finnish Championships in Helsinki. I took the plane to Salzburg right after the race and came here by car. I thought that I would just take this race as a good training for the Olympics, therefore I am even happier that I could even win it.“Result list
