Decision in the final sprint
A larger group started round about half a minute behind today's best jumpers, Christoph Bieler (AUT) and Bernhard Gruber (AUT, Fischer skis and boots), into the cross-country race in which each athlete had to ski five rotation with each 1.5k. After the third exchange the leading Austrians were caught up, six athlete were now in the leading group. Later the Norwegians and Italia's Samuel Costa (ITA, Fischer skis and boots) and Alessandro Pittin (ITA, Fischer skis and boots) joined them so the final decision was made out of a group of eight. Several attacks had been without results until Fabian Riessle attacked with excellent skis just as a Norwegian tumble in his back. Therefor his opponents missed the contact and Riessle started with a small advantage into the short final straight. Jørgen Gråbak wasn't able to reach the German and finished second ahead of Germany II composed of Rydzek/Frenzel. Norway I with Magnus Krog (NOR, Fischer skis and boots) came in fourth, Italy finished sixth.
