German skijumping team stole victory from Austria in team event in Kuusamo. Fischer eagles Michael Neumayer (GER, Fischer), Richard Freitag (GER, Fischer) and Severin Freund (GER, Fischer) won ahead of unusual unbeatable Austrians and Slovenians.
Germany unbeatable
According to a great team effort team Germany celebrated victory in first men's team event in Kuusamo. Already 17 year old Andreas Wellinger (GER) showed sensational jumps and provided a basis for German success. His team mates Michael Neumayer, Richard Freitag and Severin Freund took a back seat to no one and jumped at least 130 metres in almost every jump. So the team finished 5.3 points ahead of Austria after eight jumps. Team Austria with Thomas Morgenstern (AUT, Fischer) and Gregor Schlierenzauer (AUT, Fischer) lost a lot of ground especially in the first round but in the final they caught up many points. Third went to Slovenia who forfeit many metres caused by first jumper Robert Kranjec (SLO, Fischer). Jurij Tepes (SLO, Fischer) and his team mates cut Kranjec' losses and at least made a podium , 40 points behind Germany.
