Justyna Kowalczyk (POL, Fischer skis and boots) abandonned before the race. Petter Northug (NOR, Fischer) saved his victory in World Cup final in Falun ahead of two team mates. After 14.4 kilometres the Norwegian crossed the line followed by Finn Haagen Krogh (NOR, Fischer) and Martin Johnsrud Sundby (NOR, Fischer skis and boots).

Impressive winter
A more or less controlled pace was enough for Marit Bjoergen to win the last stage of 10k free pursuit at World Cup final in Falun and defend her title. Therefore the Norwegian looks back on a very successful season: Inclusive Worldcup/WCH-relays and national races Bjoergen competed i 24 races this winter - in all 24 competitions Bjoergen made a podium. Today she finished 49 seconds ahead of Therese Johaug who was the fastest girl in today's race. Third went unchallenged to Charlotte Kalla while 40 seconds behind the Swede Kerttu Niskanen (FIN, Fischer skis and boots) lost her fight for fourth spot. A good race was made by Kikkan Randall (USA, Fischer) who closed up soon to the group in front of her after the start and edged them out in the final sprint for seventh place. Anne Kyllönen (FIN, Fischer skis and boots) came in eighth. Russian Yulia Tchekaleva (RUS, Fischer) lost the contact to group of Randall along with three other skiers shortly before the finish and was ranked tenth.

Northug controlls and fights
Petter Northug started 30 seconds ahead of Maxim Vylegzhanin (RUS, Fischer) into today's last stage which was four laps with each 3.6 kilometres long. After the start he controlled the race and his advantage. Behind him soon a group of three with Vylegzhanin, Sundby and Krogh was installed until the Russian tripped himself up at the beginning of the second lap and he dropped back. The Norwegians worked together well to leave the Russian behind and they came closer to Northug as well. The World Cup leader increased his speed but he didn't seem to be so fresh and had to fight. In the stadium he skied very slowly and Krogh and Sundby nearly reached him while fighting for second place. At the beginning of the second lap the group of Alexander Legkov (RUS) closed the gap against the group of Dario Cologna (SUI, Fischer skis and boots) who started round about 30 seconds earlier and both fighted hard to be the second-best skier in Overall ranking. In the final stretch the Russian finished fourth behind the Norwegians and ahead of the Swiss that means he edged out Cologna in Overall World Cup as well. Seventh spot went to Giorgio di Centa (ITA, Fischer) followed by Petter Eliassen (NOR, Fischer). Evgeniy Belov (RUS, Fischer) came in tenth while Maxim Vylegzhanin dropped back to twelfth spot behind Daniel Richardsson (SWE, Fischer skis and boots). "If you remember the Overall ranking after the World Champs everything looked not so well for me. But I never gave up fighting and cared for an exciting fight. Now I am relieved that I finally made it. The World Champs were more important for me but it is also a good feeling to win the Overall ranking because you have been the best skier during the whole winter. But my biggest victory was 15k race in Val di Fiemme", Northug summed up.
