JURIJ TEPES SECURES HIS FIRST EVER WORLD CUP WIN IN PLANICA
In the last season's skijumping event Jurij Tepes (SLO, Fischer) was able to celebrate his first ever victory in a World Cup. He won ahead of Rune Velta (NOR, Fischer).
Exciting week for Tepes
Jurij Tepes had an exciting week behind him: One week ago a serious knee injury of his sister Anja (SLO, Fischer) in Oslo, then his serious fall in training in Planica, some very long flights, success in team event and now his first ever victory. "It was a incredible week for me. After my fall at the beginning I am sure everyone can understand that I am very happy now. It is something special for us Slovenians to win here in Planica", Tepes smiled. Jurij Tepes defended his lead in the final round with upcoming backwinds ahead of Rune Velta who increased from six to two. Therefore the Norwegian surpringly secured victory in nation cup for his team, six points ahead of Austria. Noriaki Kasai (JPN, Fischer) showed again with his fourth spot that he is still competitive despite his 40 years of age and he left Piotr Zyla (POL, Fischer) behind. Robert Kranjec (SLO, Fischer) tied for sixth place with Denis Kornilov (RUS, Fischer). Kamil Stoch (POL, Fischer), Severin Freund (GER, Fischer) and Michael Neumayer (GER, Fischer) completed the best ten athletes.
