Therese Johaug (NOR, Fischer) totally dominated 30 kilometres free mass start. She succeeded ahead of Justyna Kowalczyk (POL, Fischer skis and boots) and Yulia Tchekaleva (RUS, Fischer).
23 kilometres alone
Directly after the start the pace was very high among the 60 athletes (without sick Marit Bjoergen (NOR, Fischer skis and boots) ) and more and more athletes took their toll because of Johaug's speed. After 2.5 kilometres only seven girls were in the leading group, just one kilometres later Johaug and Justyna Kowalczyk escaped from the group. But the Pole didn't seem to be that fresh, left the big bonus points to Johaug and wasn't able to follow her after seven kilometres. Johaug was lonesome and alone now, Kowalczyk was caught by the group five kilometres later. The Norwegian stayed with the pace, increased her advantage up to 1:30 minutes after 20 kilometres against the group of nine at this moment.

Johaug decreases her pace
The victory for Therese Johaug was already in the bag for ages. The Norwegian was able to keep it calm and maintained her lead with 90 seconds up to the end. Already at Gratishaugen, since 2011 as well known as Hellner-Bakken, she waved to her fans and after that she took a XXL-flag which she had to carry up to the finish. Therefore the final result was fudged: "Only" 46 seconds behind Johaug Justyna Kowalczyk finished second after she had been able to recover in the chasing group. But after her breather the Pole kept the pace high for a long time in the group and shortly before the finish she was able to escape. Five seconds behind her Russian Yulia Tchekaleva came in third who suffered with illness a few days ago. Charlotte Kalla (SWE, Fischer) was ranked sixth, 1:13 minutes back.
