With his success at Holmenkollen in Oslo Eric Frenzel (GER, Fischer skis and boots) secured the Overall World Cup title. He was framed on the podium by Watabe brothers Akito and Yoshito (both JPN, Fischer skis and boots).
Frenzel crowns his perfect winter
After his World Championship title and victories in a row crowned his World Cup winter with the Overall title already one race before finish. The Saxon started just eight seconds behind Yoshito Watabe into the cross-country race whose brother was 22 seconds behind. Due to the fact that Frenzel didn't ski his full pace with Yoshito in his slipstream Akito was able to close the gap in the middle of the race. After eight kilometres Yoshito wasn't able to follow but the decision was just made in Holmenkollen ski stadium where Akito couldn't follow Eric Frenzel anymore. His brother Yoshito ran down at the final stretch and was almost caught by the Chasing duo Lamy Chappuis/Fletcher (FRA/USA). Johannes Rydzek (GER, Fischer skis and boots) finished seventh.
