RUSSIAN AND GERMAN BIATHLETES WIN RELAY IN SOCHI

Die russischen Biathleten Anton Shipulin (RUS, Fischer skis and boots), Alexandr Loginov (RUS), Dmitry Malshko (RUS, Fischer) and Evgeny Ustyugov (RUS, Fischer skis and boots) celebrated victory in men's relay in Sochi followed by Germany and Czech Republic. In women's relay German team along with Andrea Henkel (GER, Fischer skis and boots), Evi Sachenbacher Stehle (GER), Miriam Gössner (GER, Fischer) and Laura Dahlmeier (GER, Fischer skis and boots) secured victory ahead of team Ukraine and Norway.
Successful Olympic test
Russian biathletes showed a successful Olympic test in men's relay. Shipulin, Loginov, Malyshko and Ustyugov recieved a penalty from newcomer Loginov but they shortened their gap more and more due to clean shooting and good skiing performances. Ustyugov was able to ski relaxed on his last lap and won 38 seconds ahead of team Germany along with Erik Lesser (GER), Andreas Birnbacher (GER, Fischer), Arnd Peiffer (GER, Fischer) and Benedikt Doll (GER). Czechs Michal Slesingr (CZE), Jaroslav Soukup (CZE, Fischer skis and boots), Vit Janov (CZE) and Ondrej Moravec (CZE, Fischer) finished third followed by Norwegian quartet consisting of Vetle Sjastad Christiansen (NOR, Fischer), Henrik L'Abee-Lund (NOR, Fischer skis and boots), Johannes Thingnes Boe (NOR) and his big brother Tarjei Boe (NOR, Fischer skis and boots) with two penalties.

19-year-old takes victory for Germany
With a great performance of the whole team especially their last skier Laura Dahlmeier team Germany was able to celebrated their relay win one year before the Olympics. Their first skier Andrea Henkel came to the fore but amongst others one penalty by Miriam Gössner dropped the team behind but Gössner and Dahlmeier were able to shorten the gap. After a great last loop the 19-year-old crossed the line twelve seconds ahead of team Ukraine consisting of Juliya Dzhyma (UKR, Fischer skis and boots), Olena Pidhrushna (UKR, Fischer skis, boots and poles), Valj Semerenko (UKR, Fischer) and Mariya Panfilova (UKR). Third went to team Norway along with Hilde Fenne (NOR, Fischer skis, boots and poles), Tiril Eckhoff (NOR, Fischer skis and boots), Ann Kristin Flatland (NOR) and Tora Berger (NOR, Fischer skis, boots and poles) who were not able to regain lost seconds by Tora Berger as good as usual.
