KAMIL STOCH CATCHES WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP TITEL AT LONG HILL
Kamil Stoch (POL, Fischer) became new World Champion at long hill in Predazzo. He definitely stepped into Adam Malysz's shoes who won the title at both hills in Val di Fiemme ten years ago.
Gold - ten years after Malysz
History recurs for Polish people. Ten years ago Adam Malysz became World Champion at normal hill and long hill - in Predazzo at the World Champs in Val di Fiemme as well. Now Kamil Stoch is finally the successor of the famous national hero. In contrast to the competition at normal hill where he dropped back from two to nine in the final round the Polish held his nerves and defended his lead after first round with 130 metres in the final round. Jan Matura (CZE, Fischer) increased to spot five in the final followed by Richard Freitag (GER, Fischer) and Simon Ammann (SUI, Fischer). Gregor Schlierenzauer (AUT, Fischer) was able to increase as well after a short jump in the first round so he finished eighth ahead of Severin Freund (GER, Fischer) and Daiki Ito (JPN, Fischer).
