Norwegian girls caught their fourth medal within five races at biathlon World Championships in Nove Mesto. The team consisting of Hilde Fenne (NOR, Fischer skis, boots and poles), Ann Kristin Flatland (NOR), Synnoeve Solemdal (NOR) and Tora Berger (NOR, Fischer skis, boots and poles) celebrated World Championship title ahead of Ukraine and Italy.
Norway with a great catch-up-race
Norwegian quartet played their favorite role in women's relay but they had to do a long catch-up-race after Fenne picked up a penalty and dropped back to 17th spot. Her team mates shortened the gap second by second so Tora Berger was able to escape from her opponents after the last standing stage. She crossed the line seven seconds ahead of team Ukraine (five spare rounds) with Julija Dzhyma (UKR, Fischer skis and boots), Vita and Valj Semerenko (both UKR, Fischer) and Olena Pidhrushna (UKR, Fischer skis, boots and poles). Bronce medal sensational went to Italy's relay consisting of Dorothea Wierer (ITA), Nicole Gontier (ITA), Michela Ponza (ITA, Fischer skis and boots) and Karin Oberhofer (ITA, Fischer skis and boots) who missed only four targets. Russians Ekaterina Glazyrina (RUS, Fischer), Olga Zaitseva (RUS), Ekaterina Shumilova (RUS, Fischer) and Olga Vilukhina (RUS, Fischer) came in fourth just ahead of Germany with Franziska Hildebrand (GER) and her Fischer team mates Miriam Gössner (GER, Fischer), Laura Dahlmeier (GER, Fischer skis and boots) and Andrea Henkel (GER, Fischer skis and boots). Rookie Laura Dahlmeier showed an excellent performance in her first start in World Cup or World Championships. The brand new multiple Junior World Champion stayed absolutely clear at the shooting range and meanwhile brought her team from spot eight to the leading position at the last exchange.
