Gruber sets key attack
Already early in the race a group of four with Watabe, Gruber, Tino Edelmann (GER) and Marjan Jelenko (SLO, Fischer) has formed but their advantage melted down more and more. Round about 1.5 kilometres before finish the group was nearly caught but Edelmann and Gruber never gave up and opened a gap at the uphill behind last intermediate point after Gruber attacked. Bernhard Gruber finished second because he wasn't able to follow Edelmann's pace during the last 300 metres. Third went to Akito Watabe, six seconds behind. Björn Kircheisen (GER, Fischer skis and boots) came in fifth ahaead of his compatriot Eric Frenzel (GER, Fischer). Jörgen Graabak (NOR, Fischer) was ranked seventh followed by Marjan Jelenko and Mikko Kokslien (NOR, Fischer skis and boots).
