NORWEGIAN GIRLS WIN BIATHLON RELAY
Norwegian relay team Hilde Fenne (NOR, Fischer skis, boots and poles), Ann Kristin Flatland (NOR), Synnoeve Solemdal (NOR) and Tora Berger (NOR, Fischer skis, boots and poles) secured victory in women's relay in Ruhpolding. Runner-up went to Russia followed by Czech Republic.
Norwegians domnate the whole race
Soon during the race Norwegian girls proved to be unbeatable. The girls were ahead during the whole race, first side by side with others who dropped back little by little, then unaccompanied. Their last skier Tora Berger was sent 25 seconds ahead into her race by her compatriots and Berger, the best biathlete in the present season, increased the lead up to 54 seconds ahead of team Russia consisting of Ekaterina Glazyrina, Olga Vilukhina, Ekaterina Shumilova (all RUS, Fischer) and Olga Zaitseva (RUS). Third went to team Czech republic composed of Veronika Vitkova, Gabriela Soukalova (both CZE, Fischer skis and boots) and their compatriots Kristyna Cerna and Veronika Zvarikova (both CZE) who opened a gap agains Germany, Italy and France during the last lap.
