Russian biathletes Alexey Volkov (RUS, Fischer), Evgeniy Garanichev (RUS), Anton Shipulin (RUS, Fischer skis and boots) and Dmitry Malyshko (RUS, Fischer) celebrated victory in men's relay at biathlon World Cup in Oberhof ahead of Norway and Germany.
Challenging wind conditions
As in women's relay there were very difficult gusts of wind in Rennsteig-Arena in Oberhof. The Russian team did the best job with these conditions, they were the only team in the leading group without penalties. At last standing stage Malyshko didn't loose his nerves as his opponent Emil Svendsen (NOR) so he was able to snatch a garanteed victory from the Norwegians. At the last lap Svendsen wasn't able to catch up Malyshko so team Russia secured victory eight seconds ahead of team Norway with Henrik L'Abee-Lund (NOR, Fischer skis and boots) although first skier L'Abee-Lund had to ski a penalty loop. Third went to host team from Germany with Fischer biathlete Arnd Peiffer (GER, Fischer) with one penalty.
