Dario Cologna (SUI, Fischer skis and boots) finished third.Justyna Kowalczyk (POL, Fischer skis and boots) hold her gap for a long time in pursuit in Dobbiaco and won 15k free race ahead of Charlotte Kalla (SWE, Fischer) and Therese Johaug (NOR, Fischer).
17 kilometres uphill: Leaders with good team work
The pace was very high from start to finish during this year's stage from Cortina to Dobbiaco. After a few minutes the leading group of five with all favorites and Alex Harvey (CAN, Fischer) was together. Round about five kilometres before the highest point of the track the Canadian wasn't able to follow the high speed but Harvey was able to stay in touch to the chasing group consisting of Marcus Hellner (SWE, Fischer), Lukas Bauer (CZE, Fischer) and Ilia Chernousov (RUS). In front of the race Dario Cologna, Maxim Vylegzhanin (RUS, Fischer), Alexander Legkov (RUS) and also Petter Northug worked together well all the time. Just at the last lap around Dobbiaco stadium there were a few attacks. Petter Northug was the first one who increased the speed but the Russians were able to stay beside him. Dario Cologna, who wasn't on the qui vive for a short moment, was able to overtake at least Vylegzhanin in the final stretch and finished third behind Petter Northug and Legkov.

Hellner has to set the pace
In the chasing group it was Marcus Hellner's challenge to set a high pace, his partners couldn't help him very often. So not surprisingly he had not enough energies left for the final stretch and Chernousov and Alex Harvey escaped. The Canadian, who was able to recover the whole downhill, attacked but the Russian counterattacked. Harvey came in sixth, 1:25 minutes behind the leaders, shortly behind the Russian and ahead of Hellner and Lukas Bauer. The Czech didn't have his best day and wasn't able to help Hellner as pre-decided. In front of the second chasing group Finn Haagen Krogh (NOR, Fischer) finished ninth.

Kalla makes up for lost time
Women had to ski a five kilometre lap three times. While the gap from start (50 seconds) between Kowalczyk and Johaug stayed more or less changeless Charlotte Kalla showed an excellent race and regained round about one minute against the Polish. The Swede caught up skier by skier and they wasn't able to follow her pace. Only Kristin Stoermer Steira (NOR) surprisingly was able to stay in touch and both caught up Johaug either. The group of three regained second by second against Kowalczyk so the gap in Tour de Ski Overall ranking after finish was just 18 seconds. In the final stretch extremely strong Kalla succeeded ahead of Johaug. In final spurt of second chasing group Anne Kyllönen (FIN, Fischer skis and boots) secured fifth place ahead of Denise Herrmann (GER, Fischer). Shortly behind Kikkan Randall (USA, Fischer) finished eighth. Runner-up in third chasing group came to young Emma Wikén (SWE, Fischer) who finished tenth.
