Petter Northug (NOR, Fischer) was the fastest athlete in mass start in Rogla. He secured victory ahead of Dario Cologna (SUI, Fischer), Alexey Poltoranin (KAZ, Fischer) and Maurice Manificat (FRA, Fischer skis and boots). Justyna Kowalczyk (POL, Fischer skis and boots) celebrated victory in women's race ahead of the Norwegians Therese Johaug (NOR, Fischer) and Vibeke Skofterud (NOR, Fischer).
Decision in the final stretch
Men's mass start was decided in the final stretch as in every mass start race. The track was very narrow due to a lack of snow and overtaking was very difficult. A few hundred metres before the finish Alexey Poltoranin tried to attack but he couldn't escape. Petter Northug secured victory in the final stretch again ahead of Dario Cologna, Alexey Poltoranin and Maurice Manificat."I did not have a good feeling today. I had to fight hard in the last two rounds", said Northug. "I did not have the best position before the bridge but the finish was good for me. I'm happy to take another victory." Only few seconds behind Evgeniy Belov (RUS, Fischer) came in sixth. Marcus Hellner (SWE, Fischer) finished eigth ahead of Maxim Vylegzhanin (RUS, Fischer) and Aley Harvey (CAN, Fischer).

Kowalczyk secures first season's win
Unlike the men's race the leading group in women's mass start became smaller and smaller at the first kilometres. A small group could escape with Therese Johaug and Justyna Kowalczyk inside. Later the Polish left Johaug behind and secured her first season's victory. "I'm feeling really good. I had perfect skis today and I think it was the basic thing for success. Rogla is good place for me. There must be a good air for me. I expected the fight with Therese to be harder. I think the key moment was two laps before the finish when I decided to go away. The victory today will make my Christmas nicer", said Kowalczyk. The Norwegian Johaug had to fight hard against her team mate Vibeke Skofterud but came in second ahead of her. Julia Ivanova (RUS, Fischer) finished fifth, Astrid Jacobsen (NOR, Fischer skis and boots) came in ninth.
