Eric Frenzel (GER, Fischer) celebrated his third World Cup victory in his carreer. His brand mate Björn Kircheisen (GER, Fischer skis and botts) finished third in the first penalty race ever.
Good jump for Frenzel
Eric Frenzel was the best athlete in the first handicap race in the Nordic Combined World Cup. The young athlete from Oberwiesenthal benefitted of a good jump so he didn't have to ski penalty loops. "Skiing was very important today and for me everything was good because I didn't have to ski penalty loops. First I had to keep in touch with the group, later I had to go my own pace. Team tactics with Björn and Fabian worked very well", Frenzel said. His brand mate Björn Kircheisen became third after running two penalty loops. "I am very good at skiing at the moment and because of my good final lap I am very satisfied with my third place", Kircheisen said. Lukas Runggaldier (ITA, Fischer) and Fabian Riessle (GER, Fischer skis and boots) finished fifth and sixth. Mikko Kokslien (NOR) came in ninth ahead of Alessandro Pittin (ITA, both Fischer skis and boots).
