Czech Jaroslav Soukup (Fischer skis and boots) secured his first World Cup podium in today's pursuit. Two other Fischer-skiers finished in top ten, too. In women's pursuit Tora Berger (NOR, Fischer skis, boots and poles) succeeded ahead of her brand mates. Nine Fischer athletes made the top ten.
First podium in his carreer
Jaroslav Soukup showed a great race today und finished on the podium for the first time. The 29-year-old Czech finished seventh in sprint race and improved his position today with a good shooting and only one miss. Because of that he was able to finish third behind Martin Fourcade (FRA) and Emil Hegle Svendsen (NOR). Tarjei Boe (NOR, Fischer) missed the podium today because he had to run three penalty loops. Andreas Birnbacher (GER, Fischer) was able to keep his sprint position and finished sixth again after missing three targets.
Fischer-athletes dominate women's pursuit
Tora Berger, Kaisa Mäkäräinen (FIN) and Magdalena Neuner (GER, both Fischer skis and boots) secured a three-fold Fischer-podium. Berger missed only one target in shooting and celebrated victory with a 33 seconds gap. "It's a bit like a home race for me because I live only two hours away from Östersund. In skiing it was very hard today", Berger said. The Finn Mäkäräinen came in second although she missed two targets ahead of Magdalena Neuner (four misses). The German had to fight hard in skiing, too: "Today I was very tired. It was very difficult because of much wet snow."
Valj Semerenko missed the podium
Semerenko (UKR, Fischer) missed the third place by a hair's breadth. She missed only one target and finished three seconds behind Neuner. Svetlana Sleptsova (RUS, Fischer) came in fifth ahead of Tina Bachmann (GER, Fischer skis and boots). Helena Ekholm (SWE, Fischer skis and boots), Anastasiya Kuzmina (SVK, Fischer) and Andrea Henkel (GER, Fischer skis and boots) finished eighth to tenth.
