Five Fischer-skiers made the podium in the first race of Tour de Ski. Justyna Kowalczyk (POL, Fischer skis and boots) and Petter Northug (NOR, Fischer) claimed victory ahead of their brand mates.
Bjoergen 0,4 seconds behind
Marit Bjoergen (NOR, Fischer skis and boots) missed a victory at the first Tour de Ski-stage in Oberhof. Her opponent Justyna Kowalczyk was 0,4 seconds faster today and secured her first season's victory. The Polish skied 7:03,7 minutes in the 3,1 kilometres long prologue and sent Bjoergen in a race with icy conditions to second place. "It was a good race today, normally I don’t feel good in these kinds of fast conditions but yeah, I’m pretty satisfied. My tactic was to not start too fast, as I normally have problems with the downhill and my legs were fresh, but I heard my downhill time was quite good and I think that’s the reason", said Kowalczyk. Riitta Liisa Roponen (FIN, Fischer skis and boots) finished sixth, her brand mates Natalia Korosteleva (RUS, Fischer), Charlotte Kalla (SWE, Fischer) and Kikkan Randall (USA, Fischer) came in eighth to tenth.

Northug beats Cologna and Manificat
After four kilometres around DKB-Ski-Arena in Oberhof on a icy track only 0,7 seconds were between rank one and two. Petter Northug celebrated victory ahead of his opponent Dario Cologna (SUI, Fischer), who wants to secure his third Tour de Ski-victory. "It was a good race, I had a good feeling and since I started at the last one, I was able to keep track of the times of the others and I think that helped me. When I heard I was fighting for the victory it gave me more power", said Northug. Behind the two top favorites Maurice Manificat (FRA, Fischer skis and boots) finished third four seconds behind Northug. Marcus Hellner (SWE, Fischer) obviously found his shape before Tour de Ski and came in fourth. Alex Harvey (CAN, Fischer) finished sixth, Maxim Vylegzhanin (RUS, Fischer) ninth.
