Marit Bjoergen (NOR, Fischer skis and boots) was on the second leg of the Ruka-triple in Kuusamo the measure of all things again. The podium was identical to the previous season’s competitions. In men's race Petter Northug (NOR, Fischer) won ahead of his brand mates Roland Clara (ITA) and Maurice Manificat (FRA, both Fischer skis and boots).
Bjoergen - Kalla - Skofterud
Marit Bjoergen ahead of Charlotte Kalla (SWE) and Vibeke Skofterud (NOR, both Fischer): The podium of the women's competition remained completely unchanged after the third race of the season. Overall, the Fischer-athletes even celebrated a six-fold victory. This time again, Marit Bjoergen was the measure of all things. The Norwegian increased her speed in the second half of the only five kilometers short freestyle race and secured victory ahead of her rivals with a gap of 11 seconds. Charlotte Kalla was happy to finish second again ahead of Vibeke Skofterud. Therese Johaug (NOR, Fischer) missed her first podium this winter by a hair's breadth with a gap of one second. An upward tendency was noticeable for Justyna Kowalczyk (POL). She finished fifth ahead of Astrid Jacobsen (NOR, both Fischer skis and boots).
Superior victory for Northug
After Marit Bjoergen’s triumph her compatriot Petter Northug secured victory with more than 23 seconds ahead of Roland Clara. "I started the race in a constant pace, then I noticed that it runs very well and I went faster. I've heard that I was leading with 15 seconds ahead and then again I gave everything," Petter Northug said. The South Tyrolean Roland Clara led the race for a long time and finally he finished on a World Cup podium for the second time in his career. Maurice Manificat finished third with a gap of 30 seconds just ahead of Switzerland’s Dario Cologna (Fischer). The Swedes Marcus Hellner and Johan Olsson (both Fischer) came in sixth and seventh. The top 10 were completed by David Hofer (ITA, Fischer skis and boots) and Remo Fischer (SUI) and Lukas Bauer (CZE, both Fischer).
