BIATHLON STARS SIGN NEW CONTRACTS
As the winner of the overall World Cup in 10l11, Kaisa Mäkäräinen, who did not change to Fischer skis and boots until before the previous season began, is more than satisfied with the effect her new equipment has had. "It was of course a good year for me personally as well, but there is no way I would have been able to achieve these successes without my new equipment," says the very happy first female Biathlon World Champion to come from Finland. It therefore came as no surprise that she has extended her equipment contract prematurely until 2014.
Tarjei Boe, her male counterpart as overall World Cup winner in 10l11, also had a remarkably successful season. Last winter's shooting star, who clinched three gold and two bronze medals in Khanty-Mansiysk in Russia, has likewise extended his equipment contract with Fischer to 2014.
Arnd Peiffer, who finished fourth in the overall World Cup in 10l11, will also be competing for Fischer at least until 2014. The Sprint World Champion of Khanty-Mansiysk has a special season to look forward to. "With the WCH on home ground in Ruhpolding the season will certainly be something special and you can already sense the excitement and pressure as it gets underway. It's comforting to know that I will definitely be able to compete in at least one race thanks to my personal place as the Sprint World Champion," says Arnd Peiffer, also looking forward to the new season with his trusty equipment.
