CONTRACT RENEWALS – SIGNED, SEALED AND DELIVERED
The final results in the World Cup may have come some weeks ago but this is still a period of high activity in which the athletes are setting the course for the future. And Fischer's Nordic racers are no exception, with a number of announcements to make again regarding contract extensions.
As the football saying goes, "after the match is before the match", and those athletes who leave straight away for a summer vacation are in a minority. The majority, on the other hand, spend their time testing and comparing equipment. Many athletes use the weeks immediately after the end of the season to make decisions about their future equipment.
Fischer has a number of contract renewals to report besides the existing ones. Leading the way, overall winners of the World Cup in cross country and ski jumping, Dario Cologna (SUI) and Anders Bardal (NOR), who will remain with their proven equipment sponsor also over the next years. Ski flying world champion Robert Kranjec (SLO) will also be staying with Fischer to fly high, just like his colleagues ranging from young star Rune Velta (NOR) to grand master Noriaki Kasai (JPN).
In cross country, Sprint World Cup winner Kikkan Randall (USA) is likewise set to continue with equipment from the Nordic number one together with French world-class racers Maurice Manificat and Jean Marc Gaillard (FRA). Alexey Petukhov (RUS) has also decided in favour of the Fischer ski and boot package for his preparations for the Olympic Games on home ground in 2014.
Two successful ladies in the Fischer team, Magdalena Neuner (GER) and Helena Ekholm (SWE), may be retiring from biathlon racing, but Fischer does not need to worry about the future. In the ladies' team Tora Berger (NOR) and Darya Domracheva (BLR) – among others – have signed new contracts to take them at least up to Sochi 2014, the same as Simon Fourcade (FRA), Andreas Birnbacher (GER) and Björn Ferry (SWE).
"We're delighted that we have been able to finalise so many contract renewals at such an early time in the year. It shows us that the athletes appreciate our work and find our equipment and service convincing," says Gerhard Urain, Nordic Racing Director at Fischer. "This means we can be sure that we will have a strong team competing in the upcoming WCH winter season, too."
