Tora Berger (NOR, Fischer skis, boots and poles) has become new Individual World Champion in Ruhpolding (GER). With only one penalty and a strong performance on the track the 2010 Olympic Champion triumphed in the women’s 15K individual today. The Norwegian stayed ahead of silver medalist Marie Laure Brunet (FRA, one penalty) significantly by 56.4 seconds. Also with one penalty and 1:11,10 minutes behind Helena Ekholm (SWE, Fischer skis and boots) secured the bronze medal.
With cool head
It was a strong performance of Tora Berger. At perfect weather conditions in Ruhpolding, she showed no weakness at the shootings missing only one target. With the third best overall time on the track Berger secured her win. With almost a minute in the lead she knew that she had achieved her goal. "You had to keep a cool head today, run fast and shoot safe," Berger said after the race. "I thought about ending my career - now I'm going to continue at least until the 2014 Olympic Games."

Ekholm wins bronze in the track
Helena Ekholm took her chance in the last loop. The Swede took over the third place there in the fight against the clock, going faster than Susan Dunklee (USA) and keeping the strong French Marie Dorin Habert behind - her reward was the bronze medal.
