Jakov Fak (SLO, Fischer) became a World Champion in the men's Individual competition at the 2012 IBU World Championships in Ruhpolding (GER). In a thrilling contest the Slovenian edged Simon Fourcade (FRA, Fischer skis and boots) and Jaroslav Soukup (CZE, Fischer skis and boots) down to second and third place.
Birnbacher gives it away with his last shot
In the men's individual it was five Fischer-athletes to battle for the medals. Like the new World Champion all of the top five athletes missed one target - the decision was made in an exciting duel on the track. It was Fak to show the best performance there with only seven seconds to defeat Simon Fourcade. Even closer was the battle for bronze: Andreas Birnbacher (GER, Fischer) missed the very last shot. Instead of taking the gold, he was 0.8 seconds behind Jaroslav Soukup in the finish. Fifth was Klemen Bauer (SLO, Fischer).

Fak: Great achievement for the whole team
"It means a lot to me," said the happy World Champion at the finish. "I did not know until the final meters if I would be able to win. Sometimes you reach your goals - now I'm very happy. This is a great achievement for the whole team."
