SCHLIERENZAUER WINS AHEAD OF FREUND AND MORGENSTERN
Gregor Schlierenzauer (AUT, Fischer) secured another World Cup win in Predazzo. The Austrian won ahead of Severin Freund (GER, Fischer) and Thomas Morgenstern (AUT, Fischer).
Already in the training sessions Gregor Schlierenzauer showed he ist the man to beat today. After the first round the Austrian had just a narrow lead but in the final round he jumped 134,5 metres and secured his 40th World Cup victory with a 15 points margin. "The
competition break was very good for me, I think that not going to Japan was the
right decision. I tried to recharge the batteries and
that was very important. Training yesterday was already very good and the
competition today was sensational. I showed two great jumps and of course I’m
very happy that I could win", said Schlierenzauer. Severin Freund celebrated his best season's result with finishing second. Thomas Morgenstern had a short first jump and he moved up in the final from 14 to podium.
Bardal still in great shape
The 29-year-old Norwegian Anders Bardal (NOR, Fischer) confirmed his great shape this winter and missed another podium shortly. Simon Ammann (SUI, Fischer) finished fifth ahead of Andreas Kofler (AUT, Fischer) and Kamil Stoch (POL, Fischer). Roman Koudelka (CZE, Fischer), Richard Freitag (GER, Fischer) and Andreas Wank (GER, Fischer) claimed the next spots and completed the top ten.
