It was by no means easy this year: the wind and the snow gave the ski jumpers a tough time at this year's Four Hills Tournament. But Gregor Schlierenzauer kept his nerve and made it to the top of the podium in the end.
This year's tournament got off to anything but a good start for Gregor Schlierenzauer with a brief flight in the first jump at Oberstdorf (GER). The chaotic weather conditions led to the first jumps being cancelled and a restart. New game, new luck – and Schlierenzauer seized the opportunity to clinch victory. This was followed by a further win at the New Year's event held in Garmisch (GER).

It was then time for the home jump on the Bergisel hill in Innsbruck (AUT). Team colleague Andreas Kofler (AUT) snatched victory away from him – together with any hopes of winning the grand slam (winning all four events of the tournament). "That's no big deal for me, my big goal is to win the tournament," was how the 22-year-old reacted after the event.

In the end a third place after only one jump in the heavy snowfall of Bischofshofen (AUT) was sufficient for him to achieve his goal. "I've fought for this for a long while and my childhood dream has now come true," says the delighted winner. "I came close a couple of times, but this year I managed to keep my nerve. It's an amazing feeling to have won the Four Hills Tournament and stand on the top of the podium."
