The 32-year-old Frenchman Julien Lopez has developed tremendous professional experience over time. On skis from an early age, he did all types of modern skiing. Despite starting off with the French National Ski Team he felt more and more attracted to freestyle skiing and finally also applied his skills to backcountry whereby he found his true passion: freeriding. From that point on skiing deep pow and sending backflips from huge cliffs has been high on his agenda. For the last five years he became one of the world’s best freeriders (World Champion in 2009, 5th in 2010 and 3rd in 2013). “I’m very excited to ski on Fischer. I’m fresh on the team and I have only been skiing the Big Stix for the moment and I love it! I can’t wait to shred the Freeride World Tour with these weapons!“, says Julien.
The Australian female pro-freerider Hanna Fisher, 30, also joins the International Freeride Team. Competing on the Freeride World Qualifier circuit in Europe and New Zealand enabled Hanna to push her skills to new levels that she didn’t know she was capable of. Having now qualified for the Freeride World Tour, Hanna is looking forward to a season of travelling, competing and skiing across the world. In 2013 she came 5th in the FWQ 4* event in Engadin, 1st at the FWQ 4* event in Vallnord and 3rd in the overall FWQ ranking.
The third new team member is Nadia Samer, 25, from Canada, who is half Austrian and raced in alpine skiing all the way to Nor-Am cup level before transitioning to ski cross. She was invited to a few selection and training camps with the Canadian Team and raced internationally for three years bagging numerous podium finishes. Along the way, she started doing big mountain competitions and is one of only two girls who hit Whistler’s infamous Air Jordan, a 20 ft to 45 ft double-staged cliff.
