Philipp Schörghofer (AUT)
HOSP, SCHÖRGHOFER, DÜRR AND HRONEK PICK UP MEDALS IN TEAM EVENT
The first gold
Austria wins gold in the team event! And the two Fischer athletes Nicole Hosp and Philipp Schörghofer were part of it. They both made a major contribution to the huge success, winning the first gold medal for their equipment sponsor at the same time. "What an event, simply fantastic! We could ski races like this more often," said a euphoric World Champion Schörghofer in the finish area.
A must-see event
A feeling of euphoria which captivated not only the participants but also everyone watching the event either in the stadium or at home on television. "The atmosphere was unique and the format of the competition also made it very exciting. There was hardly any waiting involved and in sporting terms this really is a top level event," said Fischer racing boss Siegi Voglreiter, himself full of praise. "These medals mean just as much to us as those in the individual disciplines." Philipp Schörghofer in particular drew attention to himself with an impressive performance. As a Giant Slalom specialist he even left the likes of Slalom specialists such as Andre Myhrer (SWE) trailing behind him. Only one racer was faster than him in this race – team colleague and top favourite Marcel Hirscher.
Bronze thanks to Dürr and Hronek
Besides the golden duo Hosp and Schörghofer there were two German girls who were more than happy: Lena Dürr and Veronique Hronek also made it to the podium with their team. They will be the proud wearers of bronze when the medals are awarded at tonight's official ceremony.
