KOSTELIĆ AND FISCHER TO CONTINUE WITH SUCCESSFUL PARTNERSHIP
New contract until 2014
Skiing superstar Ivica Kostelić (CRO) and his equipment sponsor Fischer Sports have agreed to work together for another two years. The 2011 World Cup winner is fully committed to skiing – and Fischer – until the 2014 Winter Olympics in Sochi.
"We are delighted about the new contract. There was really nothing in the way of it right from the beginning. Kostelić is our leading figurehead and we truly appreciate the excellent partnership. This is why everything was signed, sealed and delivered in no time at all," says Fischer Racing Director Siegi Voglreiter on the contract extension.
Kostelić, who has been using skis, boots and bindings from the Ried based company since 2007 has celebrated an unbelievable 15 World Cup victories since switching to Fischer, plus three Olympic and World Championship medals and three victories in the discipline World Cup. The Croatian's biggest success, however, was winning the large crystal globe for overall victory in the World Cup in the 10l11 season. A historical highlight shared by Kostelić and Fischer Sports. For the sports company this title also represents the biggest in the Alpine history of the company.
Ivica Kostelić himself is aiming to return to his successful ways by taking this step, despite having some setbacks last season due to injury. The plans for the next two seasons until the Olympics in 2014 have already been fixed. What happens after that depends on his health, and only the future will tell.
