BERNHARD GRUBER FINISHES SECOND FOLLOWED BY SLAVIK AND BRAUD19.02.2012
|
Bernhard Gruber (AUT, Fischer skis and boots) made another podium in Klingenthal. Tomas Slavik (CZE, Fischer) came in third ahead of Francois Braud (FRA, Fischer skis and boots).
Pocketjump required
The second competition in Klingenthal, Saxony, was held without skijumping competition today due to snowfall and too much wind. Yesterday's provisional competition round was used and on account of this Bernhard Gruber started third only eight seconds behind Havard Klemetsen (NOR, Fischer) and Slavik. Soon the group was together but the Norwegian wasn't able to follow the others although the pace was very slow and noone wanted to lead. World Cup leader Lamy Chappuis was able to reach the group in line-up with Gruber, Braud and Slavik very early in the race and escaped during the last lap to reach another victory. In the final stretch the Austrian secured second spot and edged out Slavik and Braud. However the Czech and the Frenchman had a cause for joy, too: Slavik made his first podium and it was Braud's best World Cup result ever.
Good race for Frenzel
Eric Frenzel (GER, Fischer) caught up brilliantly from start position 13 and ended up ten seconds behind the group in fifth place. Jan Schmid (NOR, Fischer skis, boots and poles) came in seventh followed by his team mate Klemetsen. Taihei Kato (JPN, Fischer) finished ninth.
